The Nagato City Tourist Information Center "YUKUTE" in Senzaki District's "Roadside Station Senza Kitchen" offers a "YUKUTE Cheki" rental service for "Cheki" cameras. The "Cheki" is an instant camera that prints out a special film on the spot after the picture is taken, and is popular for its ease of use and analog feel.
This page introduces the charm of taking a "Senzaki Walk" with a "Cheki" in hand. We asked our models to take pictures while walking around Senzaki, focusing on three main attractions: the scenery of the port town, the retro streetscape, and the seascape.
The topography of the Senzaki area is a sand spit*, facing the sea on both the east and west sides. For the photo shoot, we first departed from Senza Kitchen and walked around the fishing port on the east side, visiting the market area and the boat landing area. At this time of day, the ocean is just on the opposite side of the sun on the east side, making for a beautiful blue ocean backdrop.
Beak-shaped landforms formed by sedimentation in still waters by drifting sand carried by longshore currents.
Snapshot while walking around.
The film is ejected on the spot when it is taken, and the color is fixed and developed in roughly 5 to 6 minutes.
Many of the buildings around the fishing port have interesting shapes and show various expressions depending on the way the light hits them. You will discover many things if you follow the changes in light and try to find a good spot to take pictures.
*Please be careful with passing and photographing as some people are working.
Suddenly turning to the west and aiming for backlighting, I was able to take interesting pictures with silhouettes of people and boats.
Next, go to the "Omi Ohashi Bridge," which leads to Omi Island at the northern end of Senzaki. The town of Senzaki can be seen from the bridge.
Next, we will go to "Misuzu Street," the center of Senzaki. A quiet and retro townscape spreads out around the "Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum.
Take a picture in front of the cute designed memorial hall. Let's take a further walk around the area.
We encountered interesting buildings and cats hanging out in the streets.
Another street attraction of "Misuzu Street" is the back alleys. There are many deep spaces that cannot be easily found just by driving through by car. It is full of fun to find a spot to take pictures while considering the shape of the buildings and alleys, as well as the slope of the sun. If you actually come here, please try to find interesting spots in the back alleys.
As the sun finally begins to set, I head back to the ocean side. I captured the setting sun and sea under the Qinghai Bridge.
Finally, go to "Sawayaka Beach" facing the ocean on the west side. This is a spot where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets throughout the year while overlooking the mainland and Qinghai Island.
We enjoyed snaps while walking on the beach.
A commemorative photo with the sunset in the background. The "Senzaki Walk" was a great opportunity to enjoy various scenes of the fishing port, the townscape, and the setting sea.
We returned to the tourist information center and returned the camera. We divided the photos we took this time between the two of us.
The charm of the Cheki is that you can immediately have a photo at hand as a "memory of your trip" in this way. Please use "YUKUTE CHEKI" when you come to Senzaki.
