Special train JR "Utaakari-go" in operation and opening ceremony

The "Utaakari 2023" lighting event will be held at Nagato Yumoto Onsen from today (Thursday, January 19) to Sunday, February 19.
To mark the start of the event, the JR Mine Line chartered train "Utaakari-go" operated and an opening ceremony was held at the light-up site.
This article will provide an update on the first day of the event.

Utaakari-go" in operation

The "Utaakari" departed from Shin-Yamaguchi Station in the morning and arrived at Senzaki Station a little after noon.

Passengers enjoyed shopping at Senza Kitchen, a roadside station, and then went to the Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum to listen to a lecture by Director Yazaki.

The "Utaakari" departs Senzaki Station and arrives at Nagato Yumoto Onsen Station, today's final stop.

At Nagato Yumoto Onsen Station, there was a grand welcome by the local people.

Opening Ceremony of "Utaakari 2023

The opening ceremony was held at Onyu, a drop-in hot spring bath located in the hot spring resort area. Greetings were first given by Shuichi Ito, representative of Nagato Yumoto Onsen Machi Corporation (hereafter "MachiKabu"), the organizer of the event, as well as by Nagato City Mayor Tatsuya Ehara and Nagato City Council Chairman Nobuo Minamino.

Next, the event will continue with an explanation of the event by Hayato Kimura, Area Manager of Machi Stocks, and a talk by lighting designer Shiho Nagamachi about the light-up production.
