The cycle wear brand "Rapha" was born in London in 2004.
The "Rafa Caravan," a mobile clubhouse (mobile sales vehicle) nicknamed "Rafa Luison" that travels around Japan to meet local cyclists and hold ride events, came to Nagato City on Friday, March 20.
Arriving at the "Roadside Station Senza Kitchen" in the dazzling morning sun, Luison was surrounded by samples of clothing that he could wear freely, as well as a cycling map of the city.
We begin with coffee in hand and cyclists talking to each other.
The approximately 50 participants enjoyed talking about a variety of topics, such as where they were from and events they had recently attended with each other.
At 10:00 a.m., in a friendly atmosphere, a Rafa representative introduced the day's itinerary and the efforts of the "Rafa Caravan".
This year's ride event was organized by local cyclist Shingo Shiraishi, who served as ride coordinator, and participants were divided into groups of several to start the ride.
Participants headed from Senzaki to the Misumi district, and then headed toward Hagi through mountain roads with continuous ups and downs. The course this time was 57.3 km, with the midpoint being the area around Tamae Station in Hagi City.
In the second half of the ride, participants enjoyed riding while looking out over the blue sea, which is typical of the San'in region, and took pictures at each of the view spots.
After that, go to "Mimi Bridge (a.k.a. Megane Bridge)" in Mimi, Hagi City. This large stone bridge is a nationally designated cultural asset.
The theme of this year's course is "bridges. The theme of this year's tour is "bridges," and it is hoped that participants will encounter bridges over roads and rivers in various places, and that the day will also serve as a bridge between participants.
Once here, the remaining distance is about 20 km, with more downhill at the end, and the goal is reached with a brisk spring breeze.
Then came the finish line, about four hours after the start.
Once again, the front of Luison was crowded with cyclists chatting with coffee in hand.
After enjoying the cycling, the Rafa Caravan is also a great opportunity to share what you felt on the day on social networking sites.
