As of June 8, 2016 (Heisei 28), the hydrangeas at Koutokuzenji Temple are about five minutes in bloom. There are still many buds in front of the gate, but those in the back are blooming beautifully. There are many different varieties of hydrangeas, and the petals that have begun to change color are very beautiful. The best time to see the flowers will be from this weekend to next weekend. We will keep you updated on the situation, so please check back and don't miss the best time to see the flowers! The main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha. Originally called Mukotsu-an, the temple was renamed Mukotoku-an after the merger with Kaitoku-ji in 1897, and was renamed Mukotoku-zenji in the Showa period (1926-1989).The temple is also known as "Hydrangea Temple," and is a famous spot for hydrangeas.
