On May 11 (Wed.), the "600th Grand Memorial Service of Zen Master Shinryo Ishiya" was held at Daneiji Temple in Nagato Yumoto Onsen.
This is the 600th memorial service for the first abbot of Daneiji, "Seikoku Shinryo" Zenji Ishiya, who died on May 11, 1423.
On Tuesday, the 10th, the day before the festival, a children's parade was held as an evening event.
Departing from the Ryokan "Jade Senkaku" and heading for the main hall of Daneiji Temple from the old approach to the temple.
Wednesday the 11th was the day of the legitimate event. After the "Iki Tambutsu*" ceremony was held in the main hall of Daneiji, the Grand Enshrinement Ceremony was held with Master Hirofumi Yamagishi (abbot of Taneiji in Gunma Prefecture) as the master of ceremonies.
*An event to invite a large number of Buddhas.
This event was a reminder of the long time that has passed at Daneiji Temple. The history and traditions of the temple will continue along with Nagato Yumoto Onsen.
