Experience programs by local people to fully enjoy the charms of Nagato
The “Nagatrip 2020 Autumn” experience tourism program, which will be held for one month from October 1 to October 31, 2020, is a collection of experience tourism programs by local residents that allow visitors to enjoy the charms of Nagato to the fullest, and is a limited time event.
We have decided to hold the event in the fall after incorporating new elements such as “infectious disease control” and creating a program tailored to the new style of tourism.
There are 12 programs in total. The people of Nagato will bring you a special Nagato experience. We hope you enjoy Nagato Trip.
Thursday, October 1 – Saturday, October 31, 2020
Yamaguchi Prefecture is known for its torafugu (blowfish). This tour will take you to the largest torafugu farm in the prefecture.
This tour offers an up-close and personal experience of the backstage of Kabuki, including the “Hanamichi,” “Seri,” and “Mawari-butai” stage mechanisms.
This program allows participants to learn techniques directly from craftspeople at Nagato’s representative yakitori restaurants and experience the “skewering” and “grilling” processes.
In this program, participants can learn about the history of Haze wax and experience making soap and botanical cream with Haze wax, which is highly prized as a luxury cosmetic.
In this program, visitors can listen to explanations of Yasuo Kouzuki’s flower motifs and experience making “swags” that will become dried flowers using Yamaguchi Prefecture’s floral materials.
This is a guided walk where you can enjoy a gentle stroll while feeling the history and future of the renewed Nagato Yumoto Onsen.
This guided walk allows visitors to experience the charms of the “Hagiyaki no Sato” (Hagiyaki pottery village), which has continued for over 300 years, and the renewed hot spring resort area.
This program includes a guided walk around Tawarayama in autumn and a meal prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients.
This program allows participants to try their hand at making leather crafts under the guidance of Mr. Nakano, a Tawarayama hunter.
This is a hands-on program that welcomes both parents and children to participate, whether you choose to relax and enjoy fishing in the calm Aburaya Bay, or to fish as much as you can on the docks.
Nison-in priest, who is also a mountain priest, will steer the fishing boat and take you to a spot where you can watch the beautiful sunset over Abura-ya Bay.
This program allows participants to experience “Takigyo,” or waterfall asceticism, where they face nature and receive the power of nature at Shugen Sacred Sites on the Mukozugu Peninsula.
