A festival held to express gratitude for the benefits of hot springs

Nagato Yumoto Onsen in Yamaguchi Prefecture is the oldest hot spring in Yamaguchi Prefecture, having been discovered by Zen Master Teian of Daneiji Temple during a Zen meditation session about 600 years ago (1427 A.D. / Oei 34 / Muromachi Period), with a blessing from the great god Sumiyoshi. Nagato Yumoto Onsen holds a hot spring festival every year to express gratitude for the blessings of the hot spring. There will be many stalls selling yakitori (grilled chicken) and other foods.
