It has been about a year and a half since we started publishing " #Nagato ni Monogatari ", a photo project to introduce locations in Nagato City. This summer, the number of stories published reached 30.
On this occasion, we will look back on the activities of "Stories of Photography Born from the Four Seasons and Locations of Nagano," which aims to create new attractions and disseminate them in new ways.
Please see the official page " YUKUTE PHOTO ".
This project started in December 2019 as a photo project to showcase locations in Nagato City.
Episode 1 "The Sound of Waves, Signaling the Beginning (01)"
Rather than simply showcasing beautiful locations, portraits were taken under the theme of "Bringing the story to #Nagato".
The story is introduced on the official Instagram account (@yukuteyuku ) of YUKUTE, the Nagato City Tourist Information Center, as a story of 12 photos per story.
Episode 1 "The Sound of Waves, Signaling the Beginning (03)"
There is no narrative text in "#Nagato ni Monogatari"; instead, the title and 12 photos make up a single story.

The film images are all shot on film, which allows viewers to see textures, tones, and softness of light that they are not accustomed to seeing.
△Episode 9 "The Touch of the Morning Sun (01)"
△Episode 9 "The Touch of the Morning Sun (12)"
The photographs, cut from a perspective that evokes a story, are an unprecedented introduction to Nagato's locations.

Feel free to imagine your own story as you turn the pages of a picture book.
When we first started posting, we were bringing you "fall stories" taken during the fall season.

The filming was then conducted in all four seasons, spring, summer, fall, and winter.
Now up to the 30th episode (360 photos), you can see all four seasons of Nagato.
With each passing season, we discover new locations that we could not find before, and we are discovering that there are still many wonderful locations hidden away in Nagato.
Here are two photos from each of the 30 episodes published here, one each for spring, summer, fall, and winter.
△Episode 12 "The Color Palette of Tomorrow (12)
△Episode 15 "The World, Love Letters Through a Glass (04)
Episode 17 "Sucked into a Big Mirror (11)"
△Episode 21 "Through the Jewel of Tears (06)
△Episode 24 "Disks, Loafers and Padlocks (12)
△Episode 25 "Bare Colored Tea Time (02)
Episode 4 "Where Here at the Setting Sun (06)"
Episode 5 "How to Tie the Sunrise Knot (02)"
There are many ways to enjoy this project, but perhaps the most significant is to view it while experiencing the four seasons.
You can see a list of the stories that have been published on the official page " #Nagato ni Monogatari ". Please take a peek at the month and location of the shoot as well.
This project has led to participation in photo exhibitions, prizes in photo contests, and collaboration projects.
In March 2020, a photo from this project was selected for a "photo contest held by fotomoti, a photography community service operated by Canon.

By actually exhibiting the photos, we received comments directly from visitors, showed them where to take photos, and created an exchange with people who always view our photos on social networking sites.
In the same month, we collaborated with " NICO STOP," a photo lifestyle web magazine operated by Nikon Imaging Japan Inc. and invited photographer Shiori Iwakura to tour Nagato City.

Documentary filming of the event was done in the same way as for "#Nagato ni Monogatari wo" (Let's tell a story in Nagato).

Currently, the " Traveling Photo Exhibition: Photographer Shiori Iwakura's Naga and Photo Journey " is being held under this project, displaying photographs taken by photographer Shiori Iw akura.

Although it started as a photo project to introduce locations in Nagato City, participation in the project and collaboration projects like this provided an opportunity to let more people know about #Nagato ni Monogatari wo (Let's tell a story in Nagato).
△Episode 30: "What Do You See Umbrella?"
The summer story, the 30th episode, was a tale of photographs taken near " Nami no Hashidate," " Aomi Island Seaside Hotel," and " Sawayaka Beach " on Aomi Island.
The photo was taken between the time of westerly sunlight and sunset, and the summer blue is captured very beautifully.

Although each story appears to be "one complete story" as a narrative of 12 photos, some of the stories are connected to each other.
Be sure to check out the last one posted for each story, which will always include the location and a comment about the story and the shooting episode.
△Episode 9 "Touch of the Morning Sun (02)"
Through this project, we will continue our activities so that people will think "Nagato has such and such a place" and "I would like to shoot in Nagato.
