Let's go to the best view!

On December 21 (Sat.), the second " Enjoy the Highlights" bus tour of Nagato City and Shimonoseki City was held.

This tour is a one-day itinerary that visits Motonosumi Shrine in Nagato City and Kakunoshima Bridge in Shimonoseki City, both of which are noted for their spectacular views, as well as roadside stations in both cities. The tour will run on the second and fourth Saturdays until February next year. As of December 24, 2012, the entire itinerary has been confirmed.

This page provides the second tour report.

Riding the sightseeing train "XX no hanashi" from Shimonoseki

At 12:18, the sightseeing train "XX no Hanashi" arrives at Nagato City Station. Nagato City Station is the departure and arrival point for bus tours.

This tour also includes a course with a sightseeing train ticket. This tour is used by visitors coming from Shimonoseki and Kyushu area.

This is the beginning of a very elegant tour where you can see the beautiful Sea of Japan in a relaxing train ride.

At the tour reception area at Nagato City Station, you will be welcomed with a welcome drink "Yuzu Kichinade". You will join the bus-only course passengers.

After taking a breather, it is time to start the bus tour. We will head to the first point in a chartered large bus.

No. 5 in the nation "Roadside Station Senza Kitchen

The first place we visited was Michi no Eki Senza Kitchen, ranked fifth in the Michi no Eki Ranking 2019.

On this day, a "morning market" was held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Since it was past midnight, there were fewer stores, but participants enjoyed tasting and examining the products.

At the direct sales counter, visitors are guided by a guide as they are introduced to some of the most popular products.

As the meeting time approached, some participants came back happily saying, "I did a lot of shopping right away. This is the second year for this tour, and many participants are looking forward to shopping.

When boarding the bus, visitors were handed souvenirs from the Nagato City Tourism and Convention Association.

Motonosumi Shrine, lined with 123 torii gates

The tour guide's unique talk during the trip in Nagato City was very lively.

The voices of the participants as well as those of the tour guide could be heard in the car.

After 30 minutes of travel, we arrived at Motonosumi Shrine, a spectacular viewpoint attracting attention from around the world.

The sight of 123 red torii gates lined up in front of the sea was breathtaking, and participants were quick to take pictures.

After passing through the torii gate and paying their respects, visitors were challenged with a money-offering box, which is said to be "the hardest in the world" to put in. On this day, many people visited the shrine and threw money offerings in turn.

Every time a monetary donation was made, there was applause around the Otorii gate.

Before seeing Motonosumi Shrine that day, we were guided to the " Tatsunomiya no Siofuki " at the observatory, but unfortunately we could not see it. However, to our surprise, we saw the "Tatsunomiya no Siofuki" from the bus window leaving Motonosumi Shrine.

Since this was a phenomenon that is not often seen, when a participant said, "I guess it was thanks to the money I made," the other participants applauded.

Kakunoshima Ohashi Bridge, 1,780 meters long

This bus tour takes you to a series of spectacular sights.

Ladders from Motonosumi Shrine are the Kakunoshima Ohashi Bridge, which is famous as a location for commercials.

Since it is a bit far away, it takes time to travel, but that is where the quiz competition took place.

Quizzes related to Nagato City and Shimonoseki City were prepared, some at an easy level and some at a more difficult level involving history. Of course, those who answered correctly were given gifts and the car was filled with souvenirs.

The participants all look at the windshield when the guide says, "We are going to cross now!

The Kakunoshima Bridge is one of the longest (1,780m) public roads in Japan that can be crossed free of charge. Even on this cloudy day, participants enjoyed a 360-degree view of the cobalt blue expanse of the sea.

On the way back to the hotel, they got off at "Amaigase Park" and viewed the Kakunoshima Ohashi Bridge from the observation platform.

The last stop on the tour is "Michi no Eki Kitaura Kaido Hohoku" (Road Station).

The last stop was "Michi no Eki Kitaura Kaido Hohoku" (Road Station Kitaura Road Hohoku).

This popular roadside station was ranked No. 1 in last year's Roadside Station Ranking 2018.

The guide for this bus tour lives in Shimonoseki City. His introduction, "Futami Manju is very delicious and highly recommended," was so convincing that most of the participants put it in their shopping carts as soon as they entered the Michi-no-Eki station.

Extra-high nigiri rice and seafood bowls with a half-price sticker on them at the right time.

The participants, who became good friends during the tour, enjoyed shopping together, saying, "Let's have dinner tonight" or "Let's eat on the sightseeing train on the way home."

Participants who had haggled over the spectacular scenery enjoyed the tour to the end, reviewing photos and sharing their impressions in the train. Participants from Shimonoseki and Kyushu got off the bus at Takibe Station and returned to Shimonoseki on the "sightseeing train XX no hanashi. Other participants returned to Nagato City by bus.
