The 13th “Yang Kwei, Festival of Flames

The Nison-in Temple in the Mukatsuku district of Aburaya, Nagato City is said to be the place where Yang Kwei-Hui, who was forced to leave Tang China, drifted ashore and was later buried. This is an annual event held at Nison-in. The main event is the "Hiwatari Shinji" (fire-walking ritual), which is followed by a Japanese drum performance, a play by a local nursery school, and other events, as well as food, drink, and merchandise stores run by local residents.
