Special Exhibition at the Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum “Misuzu’s Childlike Heart Overflowing in Poetry”

Start/End Dates:May 30, 2026(Sat) ~ August 20, 2026(Thu)

Organizer: Kaneko Misuzu Memorial Museum

Tracing Misuzu's own "childlike heart" through her works

Kaneko Misuzu (1903-30) wrote a total of 512 poems, and in almost all of them, emotions are richly expressed. Among these, the feelings most frequently expressed in her poetry are "lonely" and "lonesome," conveying a sense of heartache. In this special exhibition, we introduce works in two chapters that are believed to be based on Misuzu's own childhood memories, expressing the childlike heart she felt at those times.
Chapter One presents Misuzu "sulking" when her beloved mother was too busy to spend time with her, while Chapter Two conveys Misuzu "struggling with" her own heart after fighting with friends. Along with introducing episodes and scenes, we focus on the innocent child's heart that the adult Misuzu expressed.
