Short version of the Nagato Blue Ocean Ride, a cycle event held every fall

 This cycling event lives up to its name, "Blue Ocean Ride," with a spectacular course along the coastline of the Sea of Japan and locally produced aid menus. This year's event will start and finish at "Senza Kitchen," a roadside station, and the 54-km course will take cyclists past Motonosumi Shrine, a shrine with a spectacular view, and Amaigase Park, which offers a panoramic view of the Kakushima Ohashi Bridge. On the return trip, participants will board a special "Cycle Train" from JR Agawa Station and enjoy a special time to enjoy the scenery from the train window as well as bicycles.

About application

Applications can be made via web application (Sports Entry) (first-come-first-served basis) (First-come, first-served basis)
・ Applications will not be accepted after the maximum number of participants has been reached. If payment is received after the maximum number of participants has been reached, it will be refunded after deducting the expenses related to the return of the money.
Please note that all fees and other expenses related to the application must be borne by the participant.
Cancellation is not allowed after the entry is completed.
If you wish to apply by postal transfer, please contact the secretariat (0837-23-1295) for a money transfer form.

■Participant Qualifications
Participants must be in good health and elementary school age or older.
Participants must be confident that they can complete the course within the specified time (the average speed is set between 13 km/h and 20 km/h, excluding breaks).
Participants must be able to comply with the race rules, new coronavirus infection countermeasures, and precautions set forth by the organizer.
Minors must have the consent of their parents or guardians.
Elementary school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians must also apply for participation. Applications without a parent or guardian will be deemed invalid.

We will send the participant information by e-mail in mid-February (to the e-mail address* you registered at the time of registration).
The information will be sent from kanko.s@city.nagato.lg.jp (please make sure that you have set up your domain name to receive such information beforehand).

Contents/Courses

This is a short version of the “Nagato Blue Ocean Ride with Akiyoshidai” held every fall.
Starting and finishing at Senza Kitchen Roadside Station, the tour will pass Motonosumi Shrine and Darumado Confectionary Shop before reaching Kakunoshima Ohashi Bridge.
From JR Agawa Station, the nearest station to Kakunoshima Ohashi Bridge, to JR Senzaki Station, visitors will board a cycle train and enjoy the view of the Sea of Japan from the train window.
During the tour, you will be assisted by our bike-savvy ride staff.

precautions

Measurement

This is a cycling event, not a timed or ranked event, and no measurements will be taken.

 

Car type

Any type of car is acceptable. Please use a car that you are accustomed to driving.

You can also participate by renting a bicycle from Senza Kitchen Tourist Information Center (YUKUTE) (cross bike, electric-assisted bike, MTB for children). (Cross bikes, electric bicycles, MTBs for children) If you wish to rent a bike, please apply for it at the time of entry. However, the number of bicycles is limited.

 

Equipment

1. Please wear the necessary equipment for riding on public roads, such as front and rear brakes, bells, reflectors (tail lights are acceptable), and lights, as required by law. Helmets and gloves must be worn for safety reasons.

The use of vehicles equipped with DH bars or only DH bars is prohibited.

 

◇Cargo

Please be sure to carry a flat tire repair kit, drinking bottle, ration, tools, small change, and a copy of your health insurance card. A cell phone is also recommended. In addition, please bring rain gear and other items you deem necessary.

 

 

◇Precautions for driving

1. This event will be held on public roads without traffic control. All traffic signals must be obeyed and all traffic laws must be followed.

The course includes some tunnels. Please be sure to turn on your lights when passing through.

The course is narrow in some sections. When passing or passing each other, please do not drive too hard, and be sure to pass safely by pulling out or letting other vehicles pass ahead of you.

4. The leader should never overtake the lead staff.

5. to avoid density at the start,
start every 8 to 10 people, spacing them about 2 minutes apart.

Please drive single file on the left side of the road.

7. If you are unable to complete the race within the time limit, or if the organizer determines during the event that there is a problem with the continuation of the event, please immediately follow the organizer’s instructions to stop the race.

Cheering vehicles are not allowed to enter (accompany) the course. If a cheering vehicle is found entering (accompanying) the course, the cheerer will be disqualified from the competition.

The use of aids by non-runners is prohibited.

If you must retire, please inform the staff and follow their instructions. If you retire without notifying us, we may contact your emergency contact to confirm your safety.

In the event of a traffic accident between participants or with other vehicles, please immediately contact the designated contact person and follow his/her instructions.

Participants who do not follow the road traffic laws, precautions, or instructions of the staff will be immediately stopped from riding and banned from participating in the next and subsequent races.

 

◇Consideration for local residents

Cycling trails will be on the roads used by local residents. Please be careful not to ride too fast when passing through narrow streets. Also, please put any trash you bring with you, such as masks, rations, PET bottles, etc., in a plastic bag and take it home with you. As a cyclist, please be sure to help preserve the environment.

 

Handling of Participation Fee

1.No refunds will be made under any circumstances for personal reasons after the entry fee has been paid.

2. The event may be cancelled depending on the spread of the new coronavirus infection. If the event is cancelled, we will contact you at the contact address you registered at the time of registration. Also,

Others

1. If the event cannot be held as scheduled due to inclement weather or other reasons, the organizer reserves the right to change the content of the event or cancel it at its discretion. If the event is cancelled, we will contact you at the contact information (e-mail address*) you registered at the time of application.

Substitute runners other than the participant are strictly prohibited.

3. first aid will be provided for any accidents during the event, but we will not be responsible for any subsequent treatment.

The organizers will provide a one-day recreation insurance policy for all event participants, but will not be responsible for any further compensation. If you are concerned about the coverage, we recommend that you purchase your own insurance.

5. please take responsibility for your own bicycles and equipment. The organizer will not be responsible for any theft or damage.

In the event of a flat tire or other malfunction, you are responsible for repairing it yourself if at all possible, but please do not hesitate to ask a ride staff member for help if you have difficulty. (Even in such cases, please carry tire levers, a pair of tubes, a pump, and the necessary tools with you.)

Application Terms and Conditions

All applicants must agree to the following terms and conditions before applying for this tournament.

1. I understand and will abide by the event guidelines and participate in the event.

2. I have no heart disease or illness, and I will participate in the event at my own risk for injury, illness, accident, loss, etc.

In the event of an accident in which I am the victim or the aggressor, regardless of the cause, I will handle the accident at my own responsibility and will not hold the organizer or any other person concerned responsible.

I will not make any claim for compensation other than the insurance taken out by the organizer in the event that I am injured or become ill during the event, or in the event that I suffer permanent injury or death as a result of such injury or illness.

5. In the event of injury or illness during the event, I am willing to receive first aid. I will not hold the organizer responsible for the method, course, etc. of such treatment.

6. I will not seek a refund of the entry fee in the event of cancellation for personal reasons after entry has been completed, or in the event of cancellation or curtailment of the event due to inclement weather, earthquake, accident, incident, illness, etc.

7. my family/relatives/guardians (if the participant is a minor) give their consent to participate in this tournament.

8. I authorize the use of any photographs or names of participants taken during the event for advertising or media coverage of the event.

9. I authorize Nagato City to use my personal information for future participation information for cycling events organized or co-sponsored by Nagato City.
 *The organizer will handle the personal information of participants in strict compliance with the laws and regulations concerning the Personal Information Protection Law.
