Isuzu Graveside Service

Start/End Dates:March 6, 2016(Sun)

Event Time: 11:00 AM~11:00 AM

Organizer: Kaneko Misuzu Honoring Society

A memorial service for children's poet Misuzu Kaneko will be held.

Children's poet Misuzu Kaneko was born on April 11, 1903 in Senzaki Village, Otsu County, Yamaguchi Prefecture (now Senzaki, Nagato City). Her real name is Teru, and she began writing poems and submitting them to magazines around June 1923 (when she was about 20 years old). He was praised by Saijo Hachijo as "a giant star among young children's song poets" and became a favorite of children's song poets of the time, but since he passed away at the young age of 26, his works have been scattered and he has only been talked about as a visionary children's song poet. However, Setsuo Yazaki, who was shocked by the poem "Daigo (Big Fish)" in the "Japan Children's Song Book," conducted a 16-year "search for Misuzu" and in 1982, 50 years after her death, a collection of 512 poems was discovered. On March 10, the anniversary of Isuzu's death, a memorial service will be held at Henshoji Temple in Senzaki, which will be attended by many people from all over Japan.
