Nagato Blue Ocean Ride with Akiyoshidai 2020

A cycling event set in the cobalt blue sea and karst plateau!

This cycling event will be held on the beautiful cobalt blue Sea of Japan on the San'in side of Yamaguchi Prefecture, the spectacular viewpoints of the Higashi Gohata terraced rice fields, selected as one of the 100 best terraced rice fields, and the vast and beautiful karst road in Akiyoshidai. At each aid point, delicious local food awaits you, making this an event where you can fully enjoy "spectacular scenery" and "food. The course is approximately 117 km long, and you can enjoy riding through the spectacular scenery from the mountains to the sea.

Guest rider to be determined!

The Japanese national para-cycling team will be joined by guest riders Manyo Fukui and Yasumi Gonjo, the team’s director!
They will arrive in Nagato City after a training camp in Sanyo-Onoda City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, from November 16 to 20, and will join us to help make the event a success.

Kazuha Fukui

T2 class. Uses a tricycle (three-wheeled bicycle).
19 years old, born in 2001. Born in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Belongs to Butterfly Effect Inc.
10th in road time trial and 9th in road race at the 2019 Paracycling World Cup Bekomo, Canada.

Yasumi Gonjo, Director

Born in 1972, age 48. Born in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture and currently resides in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.
In addition to his duties as Executive Director of the Japan Paracycling Federation and coach of the Japanese national paracycling team, he is also trying to develop Iwaki City using bicycles.

Measurement】
This event is a cycling event and is not a competition for time or rank, so no measurements will be taken.

Any type of vehicle is acceptable. Please use a bicycle that you are accustomed to riding.
You can also participate by renting a bicycle from “Tourist Information Center YUKUTE” at Senza Kitchen, Roadside Station (cross bike or electric-assisted bike). (cross bike, electric-assist bike, MTB for children) If you wish to rent a bike, please apply for it at the time of entry. Please note that the number of rental bicycles is limited. Electric bicycles are city cycle type.
Equipment 
1. All vehicles must be equipped with the necessary equipment for riding on public roads, such as front and rear brakes, bells, reflectors (tail lights are acceptable), lights, etc., as required by law. Helmets and gloves must be worn for safety reasons.
2. Vehicles equipped with DH-bars or only DH-bars are prohibited.

All participants are required to have their vehicles inspected at a bicycle store in their area prior to the event. A vehicle inspection certificate will be sent together with the entry guide in advance. Please have your bicycle inspected at a bicycle store and bring it to the registration desk.

9. In the event of a traffic accident between participants or with other vehicles, please contact the event headquarters and staff immediately and follow their instructions.

Consideration for Local Residents

3. It is strictly prohibited for anyone other than the applicant to run on behalf of the participant.
4. First aid will be provided, but we will not be responsible for any subsequent treatment.
5. The organizer will provide one-day recreation insurance for all event participants, but we will not be responsible for any further compensation. If you are concerned about the coverage, we recommend that you purchase your own insurance.
6. Please be responsible for your own bicycles and equipment. The organizer will not be responsible for any theft or damage.
7. In the event of a flat tire or other malfunction, you are responsible for repairing the bicycle yourself. (Please carry tire levers, spare tubes, pumps, and necessary tools.) The organizer’s staff (including staff riders, support bikes, and support cars) may charge for repairs. Please pay at the finish line. Some types of breakdowns cannot be repaired.
8. The tournament may be cancelled depending on the spread of the new coronavirus infection. If the event is cancelled, we will contact you at the e-mail address you registered at the time of application.
