No.1 in the number of events held

The results of the 2019 ONSEN and Gastronomy Walking Awards by the Organization for the Promotion of ONSEN and Gastronomy Tourism have been announced.

Last year, it received the "Omotenashi Award" for its hospitality. This year, the " 5th ONSEN Gastronomy Walking in Nagato Tawarayama Onsen " held last November received the "Excellence Award" for its excellent content and implementation of each of the event elements: nature, food, local sake, culture, history, and hospitality.

Reasons for the award include: "No. 1 in the number of events held, with a variety of surprising twists and turns each time, and a unique presentation that truly relaxes and entertains participants, increasing the number of repeat customers," "simple taste and hospitality with evolving food content are appealing," and "active inducement to stay overnight.

Awarded for two consecutive years. Each time, the "smiles, hospitality, and solidarity" of the local people who hosted the event has evolved. We hope that this event will continue to lead to the development of the community and be passed on to those who come to Nagato.

What is ONSEN Gastronomy Tourism?

Gastronomy tourism" is a style of travel popular in Europe and the United States. It refers to a trip to enjoy the local cuisine and learn about the history and culture of a place while walking around it. ONSEN gastronomy tourism" is a new experience that adds Japan's world-renowned hot springs to the mix. The reason we chose "ONSEN" instead of "onsen" is because we want to spread the appeal of onsen not only to tourists in Japan, but also to tourists from overseas. We also hope that "ONSEN" will become an international word that expresses the charms of Japan in the same way that "SUSHI" and "NINJA" do.

In Nagato City, it has been held five times in the past in the "Tawarayama Hot Springs Area.
