Fukawa Hagi Pottery Brings Autumn to Life in Nagato Yumoto Onsen
Discover the pottery of Nagato at this autumn event in Nagato Yumoto Onsen. Works by artists from the Fukawa Hagi kilns will be on display and available for purchase at venues throughout the hot spring town, including the main venue, Machi no Bandai, as well as Otozuredo, cafe&pottery Oto, Otani Sanso and Gyokusenkaku.
This year’s theme, “A Moment for Tea and Sweets,” invites you to enjoy matcha served in Fukawa Hagi tea bowls alongside specially created wagashi, traditional Japanese sweets inspired by the pottery. The event also features kintsugi pottery-repair workshops, Utsuwa no Aki tea gatherings and tours of the Fukawa kiln area.
Stroll through the town in autumn and discover the charm of Fukawa Hagi, a local Hagi pottery tradition with a history of around 360 years in Nagato Yumoto.

Special Events
Yudo Exhibition “Nagato Yumoto Onsen Onto”
In conjunction with the Utsuwa no Aki exhibition period, “Yudo tools” created by Shinbei Sakakura XVI of Fukawa Hagi will be on display at “Nagato Yumoto Onsen Onto,” winner of the top prize at the 2023 “Yudo Culture Awards.”

Utsuwa no Aki Tea Gathering
During the “Utsuwa no Aki Vol.07 ” period, the “Utsuwa no Aki Tea Gathering” will be held at Nagato Yumoto Onsen “Onto Plaza” on October 17 (Sat) 14:00– / 16:00–, and October 18 (Sun) 11:00– / 14:00– / 16:00–.
Enjoy matcha and Japanese sweets in Fukawa Hagi tea bowls while listening to talks by the Hagi ware artists who created the vessels and Japanese confectionery artisan Sae Ippozumi. (This event requires advance reservation.)
