Tawarayama Gastronomy Walking, new every time you visit

 The 11th "ONSEN Gastronomy Walking in Nagato Tawarayama Hot Springs" will take you around Tawarayama in autumn with a focus on Sainenji Temple, famous for its autumn leaves. Please enjoy the nostalgic hot spring resort town and the peaceful countryside of the satoyama in autumn as much as you like. Take this opportunity to taste Tawarayama's specialties such as "oden" and "gibier.
Join us on the Tawarayama Gastronomy Walking tour, where you can eat, explore, and enjoy a petit hot-spring cure, something new every time you visit.
Gastronomy tourism" is a term used to describe a journey through a region to enjoy its food, history, and culture while walking around. The "ONSEN Gastronomy Walking" adds the element of onsen (hot springs) to this tour, allowing you to experience the charms of the hot spring resort through walking.

Details of implementation

ONSEN Gastronomy walk approx. 9km

  • Start time frame ① from 10:00

*Start times are approximate.
*Final goal deadline is 16:00. You are expected to walk at your own pace, but please finish by 16:00.
*The pace depends on the individual, but it will take approximately 3-4 hours (not including the time for bathing in the hot spring).

entry qualifications

  • Able to walk about 9 km.
  • In consideration of the prevention of the spread of new coronavirus infection and participants’ anxiety, those who have completed vaccination against new coronavirus by the day of the event are eligible to participate. Although you will not be asked to present a certificate of vaccination at the reception desk, you will be asked to agree to the above conditions of participation at the time of reservation. Thank you for your understanding.
  • During the event, attendants may take photos and videos and be interviewed by the media. The organizers and the ONSEN Gastronomy Tourism Organization reserve the right to use images, photographs, and records of the event, as well as the rights of publication and portraits in various media.
  • Any nationality, age, gender, etc. is welcome. Entry is open to elementary school students and older. Preschool children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Those who can follow the rules of the tournament, manners, and traffic rules.
  • Persons with walking difficulties must be accompanied by a caregiver.

  • Please note that food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, will be served at the event, so please be careful when registering to participate!
  • Please use public transportation if you plan to drink alcohol.

Known as the “famous hot spring for rheumatism,” it is effective in curing internal diseases. The mystery lies in the fact that the spring water contains an abundance of dissolved hydrogen and has extremely high “reducing power. In recent years, it has been discovered that this is due to its long-lasting power. The PH value of the hot spring is over 9.9. When you soak in the bathtub, you will feel a physical change from slippery to slippery, and in addition, you will feel the comfort of the hot water penetrating into your body.
